Sat means noble and sang meaning company. Thus spiritual Satsang means coming together with Guru or spiritual mentor. Guru can take a personal or group discourse (Pravachan) where he can elevate the understanding of disciples through inspired talks on sacred scriptures like Bhagwad Gita, Upanishads and like.
Sri Adi Sankaracharya says
दुर्लभं त्रयमेवैतद्देवानुग्रहहेतुकम् ।
मनुष्यत्वं मुमुक्षुत्वं महापुरुषसंश्रयः ॥
Durlabham Trayame Vaitad, Devanugraha Hetukam I
Manusyatvam Mumukshyutvam, Mahapurusa Samsrayah II
( Vivekachudamani Sloka – 3)
Meaning
Three things are rare in life. If God’s grace upon a person can get these three things. Human Birth, Company with wise Holy People and have a strong desire to get Liberation. If a person getting these three things in one circumstance will be Liberated.
In Bhaja Govindam, He says
सत्सङ्गत्वे निस्सङ्गत्वं निस्सङ्गत्वे निर्मोहत्वम् ।
निर्मोहत्वे निश्चलतत्त्वं निश्चलतत्त्वे जीवन्मुक्तिः ॥
Satsangatwe Nisamgatwam, Nisangatwe Nirmohatwam,
Nirmohatwe Nischalatatwam, Nischalatatwe Jivanmuktih.
(Bhaja Govindam Sloka - 9)
Meaning
Through the Company of the wise or holy good people, there arises non-attachment; from non-attachment comes freedom from delusion; Where there is a freedom from delusion, there is abidance in Self-Knowledge, which leads to freedom while alive.
Goswami Tulasidas says
बिनु सतसंग बिबेक न होई। राम कृपा बिनु सुलभ न सोई॥
Binu Satasanga Viveka na hoi, Rama Kripa Binu Sulabha na Soi.
( Ramcharitmanas in the Bala Kanda Chaupai – 4)
Meaning
There is no wisdom without Satsanga and no Satsanga without His grace.
There are three type of Bodies from which liberation has to be achieved;
The Body consist 3 types.
(1) स्थूल शरीर (Physical Body)
It consists of 5 types.
(A) Earth 1/5, (B) Water ¼, (C)Fire 1/3, (D)Air ½, (E)Space (Ether) 1/1
(2) सूक्ष्म शरीर (Astral Body)
It consists 19 elements.
5 Organs of Action (Hand, Leg, Mouth, Anus and Genitals)
5 Organs of Knowledge (Eyes, Ears, Nose, Tongue and Skin)
5 Prana Vayu (The five vital life-force energy)
(A) Prana Vayu (Inward Energy)
Location : Chest and Head region.
Importance: Controls intake, respiration, perception and supplies basic vitality to the mind and heart.
(B) Apana Vayu (Downward and Outward Energy)
Location : Lower abdomen and pelvic floor.
Importance : Governs elimination, urination, reproduction and the release of physical or mental toxins.
(C)Saman Vayu (Balancing and Digesting Energy)
Location : Navel and core area.
Importance : Drives digestion, metabolism and the equal distribution of nutrients and energy throughout the body.
(D)Vyana Vayu (Circulating Energy)
Location : Whole Body.
Importance : Manages circulation of blood, lymph, nerve impulses and keeping all body parts connected.
(E) Udana Vayu (Upwards Energy) The main Vital Energy.
Location : Throat and head.
Importance : Controls speech, expression, growth and upward movement of consciousness.
4 Inner Instruments (Mind) it acts in a four ways;
(A) Mind : A bundle of thoughts and desire is called Mind.
(B) Intellect : When the mind it act in a positive Non-Violence way, the same mind it turnover towards the Intellect.
(C) Sub-Consciousness : When the Mind it recall of thought, the same moment it turnover towards Sub-consciousness mind.
(D) Ego : When the Mind identify with the object (body), the same moment it turnover towards Ego.
(3) कारण शरीर (Causal Body)
The Individual Being. It consists 5 types.
(A) Annamay Kosha (The Food Layer)
(B) Pranamaya Kosha (The Breath Layer)
(C) Manamaya Kosha (The Mind Layer)
(D) Vijnanamaya Kosha (The Intellect Layer)
(E) Anandamaya Kosha (The Bliss Layer)
