Maharshi Patanjali mentions that there are eight limbs to get Self-Realisation. According to His eights limbs it is called Ashtanga Yoga.
The eight limbs are given below;
1.Yama (How we behave in Society) It consists five types.
(A) Ahimsa (Non-Violence)
Not to harm the Self and not harm any being through Physical, Mental and Speech is called Non-Violence,
(B) Satya (Truthfulness)
In mind whatever thoughts come while we speak our speech should be Non-Violence, not to harm any being through physical, mental and speech is called Truthfulness.
(C) Asteya (Non-Stealing)
In which things I have effort it belongs to mine and in which things I don’t have effort it not belongs mine.
(D) Aparigraha (Austerity, not have any greediness)
Whatever necessary in day-today life keep it, not to keep more than what not needful in your day-today life.
(E) Brahmacharya (Celibacy)
मैथुनया भाव प्रकट नहीं करनेको ब्रह्मचर्य कहा गया I
Should not arise up in mind opposite relationship Thought.
If arise up in mind of this thought should must have Non-Violence way not to harm the Self and not to harm any being through physical, mental and speech, only to have procreation may can have because of being.
2.Niyam (How we live in the Society) It consists five types.
(A) Saucha (Cleanliness)
Cleansing outside and inside. Suppose one example; You have not taken bath since 5 days. Your mind will be dull. After taking bath your mind will be so much freshness. Another one example; Suppose you have not clean your room since 5 days. After clean up your mind will be so much freshness. So, needed outside cleanness so that inner automatic will be cleanness.
(B) Santosha (Contentment)
(C) Tapas (Self Discipline)
To adjust happy and unhappy, pain and pleasure, like and dislike, etc
(D) Swadhyaya (Self Reflection)
Read Holy Scriptures where mind will reveal towards God.
(E) Ishwara Pranidhana (Surrender to God)
3. Asana (Physical Exercise)
This physical body is a temple or a vehicle of the Soul. Without physical comfortable a person can’t control his mental. So, Health is Wealth.
After Physical comfortable when you will practice Breathing exercise, When the Breathing will increase then the Senses will become calm and quite. When the Senses will become calm and quite then the Mind will turnover towards your Own-Self, because you are not separate from your Own-Being. (Asana Photos)
4. Pranayama (The Breathing Exercises)
5. Pratyahara (Withdraw the Senses Inwards)
6. Dharana (Concentrate the Mind on your Own-Self)
7. Dhyana (Continuously concentrate the Mind on your Own-Self is called Meditation)
8. Samadhi (Liberation)
When the Mind will merge on your Own-Self is called Self-Realisation.
